This is the course for the beginner looking to develop a deeper understanding of photography as a means of creative expression.  It can also be an ideal starting point for those hoping to pursue a professional career in photography.  The course is structured as a series of workshops built around the students own photographic projects and explores a variety of professional and artistic techniques.  SLR or other “manual” camera required.

Photography for Kids

The Sunshine Coast School of Photography has scheduled a photography course specifically for kids during the school holidays. This course is specially designed for kids from 8 years to 11 years held in four two hour sessions; two

sessions per week over two weeks during the holidays.  The course sets out not only to teach students to understand the functions of digital cameras but to recognise pictorial references and to confidently create imaginative compositions and pictorial narratives.    The course will be largely hands on and engage students in practical interactive projects encouraging them to express themselves through exciting visual images.

Conditions of Enrolment.

All courses should be paid for in full before commencement.  A 50% deposit will secure a place on your chosen course and the balance of fees should be paid no later than 5 days before the commencement of the course.  A 50% withdrawal fee will apply if cancellation occurs less than 10 days prior to the start.


If withdrawal occurs within 48 hours of course commencement, or after the course has started, no refund will be given. Should a course be cancelled due to lack of enrolments then a full refund or credit will be paid.  All requests for refunds must be made in writing and dated.  Should a class need to be re-scheduled it will be added to the end of the course or arranged to suit students.  All prices are current and include GST.


Digital Photography for Beginners

This beginners workshop is for people seeking to develop a greater familiarity with their SLR (Single Lens Reflex) cameras.  The workshop also helps students to confidently work with light, the most essential working ingredient of photography, and to develop an assured relationship with their camera.  Many practical techniques are introduced including how to find imaginative camera angles and evocative compositions that add power and excitement to the photographs. Advice will also be provided for the most effective ways of downloading camera files and best printing options.

This is the course for the absolute beginner, working with a basic ‘Point-and-Shoot camera. It is a course for those who enjoy photographing family events, holidays and special occasions.
