This is the course for the beginner looking to develop a deeper understanding of photography as a means of creative expression.  It can also be an ideal starting point for those hoping to pursue a professional career in photography.  The course is structured as a series of workshops built around the students own photographic projects and explores a variety of professional and artistic techniques.  SLR or other “manual” camera required.

The course embraces the fundamental techniques of digital photography – camera and exposure control, lighting.etc. However, the main thrust of the course will be on developing the students artistic and creative vision and

introducing the practical techniques necessary to translate that vision into successful and evocative photography.

Photography for Kids

The Sunshine Coast School of Photography has scheduled a photography course specifically for kids during the school holidays. This course is specially designed for kids from 8 years to 11 years held in four two hour sessions; two

sessions per week over two weeks during the holidays.  The course sets out not only to teach students to understand the functions of digital cameras but to recognise pictorial references and to confidently create imaginative compositions and pictorial narratives.    The course will be largely hands on and engage students in practical interactive projects encouraging them to express themselves through exciting visual images.

Digital Photography for Beginners

This beginners workshop is for people seeking to develop a greater familiarity with their SLR (Single Lens Reflex) cameras.  The workshop also helps students to confidently work with light, the most essential working ingredient of photography, and to develop an assured relationship with their camera.  Many practical techniques are introduced including how to find imaginative camera angles and evocative compositions that add power and excitement to the photographs. Advice will also be provided for the most effective ways of downloading camera files and best printing options.

Beginners Guide to taking Better Photographs

This is the course for the absolute beginner, working with a basic ‘Point-and-Shoot camera. It is a course for those who enjoy photographing family events, holidays and special occasions. It encourages a greater creative relationship between what you see, what you want to achieve and a greater understanding of what your compact automatic camera is doing.. This course will enable students to achieve more consistently satisfying photographs. It can also provide a strong basis from which to progress to more advanced studies.
